Movie poster effect

Hi there, our tutorial today is about how to turn a simple photo to a movie poster using photoshop like this photo:
Before:__________________________After:




1-First open your photo (you can find the previous one here with the real dimensions).

2-Duplicate the background layer by pressing Ctrl+J .

3-Go to "Image>Adjustments>Exposure..." and just like the next pic:
notice: you can change the settings depending on your image brightness .



4-Go to "Image>Adjustments>Hue/Saturation..." or press Ctrl+U then do just like the next pic :


you notice that we used the blue in th previous step, actually you can use the orange the blue the yellow any color except the that draw attention too much like red purple.


5-Now change the blend mode of the layer1 to Overlay and change the opacity to 85 or what work better with your photo (you can leave the opacity 100 too):



6-Add a new layer above the others and fill it with black than change its blend mode to overlay and add a layer mask to it like the next pic :


7- select the brush and set the hardness 0 and start to paint with Black in the important thing in the photo (like the hero of the movie for example) or just follow the next pic (fill the red spot) :



8-Now duplicate the last layer and change the blend mode of the duplicated layer to normal and the opacity to 28 or what fit your photo:





9-The only thing left is the writing you can download the Movie poster font from here

then extract it and put them in c:/windows/Fonts
then you find it in your photoshop you can add the writing by your self this is my final result :
